Working with Griffin Designs

Connection:

It starts with getting to know you, understanding the way you live in your home, and how your home functions and flows.

Creativity:

With these insights, detailed measurements, and two decades of industry experience, I develop concept drawings that best reflect you and the way that you want to live in your home.

Collaboration:

Together, we refine your design while making selections and planning the renovation.  Your General Contractor and Architect (if needed) will join in the process to review the proposed plans and then prepare your space for cabinetry, fixtures and finishes.

Communication:

I provide detailed documentation and specifications to your General Contractor in an effort to make the renovation as seamless as possible.  Once construction starts, I check in at every stage, and when issues occur, I address and work to resolve them professionally and as part of your team.

Craftsmanship:

Because details matter, Griffin Designs custom-crafts and installs its own cabinetry. The quality of the installation is critical in achieving the best results for a happy client.

About Alison

My love of home construction started in elementary school, when my Father designed and built our passive solar home during the energy crisis of the 1970’s. I was part of his crew and by high school, was using power tools to rough frame walls and roofs with Habitat for Humanity.

After earning a Bachelors Degree in International Relations at Mount Holyoke College, and spending two years in the theater’s costume shop, I chose to pursue my love of clothing design and earned an Associates Degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

For the next decade, I worked as a textile designer at companies such as Gap Inc. and home furnishing textile manufacturers.

My first home, a 1918 Arts & Crafts Colonial, shifted my course once again. In 2004 I embarked on my second career as a Kitchen and Bath Designer, which melded all of my loves together into one career.

After working for nearly a decade at Canterbury Design Kitchen Interiors, a premier kitchen design studio in Morristown, NJ, I founded Griffin Designs Kitchen & Bath in 2018.
